Caminiti Consulting provided resident engineer services during construction for the $10 million project.
The new Hanscom Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Facility / United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Facility at Hanscom Airfield will provide independent facilities for each agency, with shared infrastructure in roughly 11,500 gross square feet.
The ARFF provides a high level of response for Massport fire fighters and supports the programmatic needs of the department, including specialized fire fighting vehicles and bunk and support spaces, in compliance with the FAA recommended program. The CBP facility aligns with current CBP design standards and incorporates additional safety and processing capabilities. The project incorporates the highest level of sustainable design possible and is targeted for a LEED Gold rating. The project included ramp rehabilitation, lighting and signage improvements, and underground utilities.
Caminiti Consulting monitored the general contractor’s adherence to the contract documents, reviewed requisitions for payment, and monitored extra work performed on time & materials. Caminiti Consulting was also responsible for coordinating the contractors’ activities with the different MPA departments and adjacent contractors to ensure that the work does not interfere with airport operations.
