Plan Preparation

A project management plan (PMP) is an owner- approved, formal document that defines how the project is executed, monitored, and controlled. It may be a summary, detailed document, or a compendium of baselines, subsidiary management plans, and other planning documents that are used to define the approach by which the project team is to deliver the intended project management scope of the project.

Project Procedures Preparation

Project procedures are an essential element of the Project Management Plan (PMP) and detail the lines of communication, work flow, and responsibilities of each entity. When procedures are followed, there is consistency in practice for work processes. The PMP provides assurance that procedures are done the same way, every time and that proper steps are followed. The PMP with a project procedure manual can be used as a tool to help train team members and serves as a reminder of procedure steps, expectations and outcomes. It can also be used as a tool to measure a person’s performance. When policies and procedures are analyzed with the inclusion of employees, clients, and quality data, the PMP serves as a great template for improving current processes.
